Ascea

Ascea is a small seaside town in the Campania region of southwestern Italy. Like many towns in Italy, it is characterized by its remoteness, economic underdevelopment, and non-modern traits, with a small population that is mostly elderly. Only in the summer it becomes somewhat lively.

The project started in 2022 and takes Ascea as a case study to explore the situation of Italy's "dying towns" - those that cannot rely on the tourism and vacation industry, which is an important economic pillar for the country, yet are overlooked.
